The Drukpa Lineage, also known as the Dragon Lineage is essentially a lineage of yogis. Many great yogis, through practicing the unique and profound methods developed by the Drukpa masters, became enlightened within one lifetime. Not only that, they were able to benefit many beings during their lifetimes. Besides the First Gyalwang Drukpa Tsangpa Gyare and his successive reincarnations, Gyalwa Gotsangpa, the three madmen and many others are counted as some of the most celebrated masters of the Drukpa Lineage.
Masters of the Dragon Lineage
For more than 800 years since the nine dragons flew up into the sky with a loud clap of thunder, innumerable yogis of the Dragon Lineage have been returning life after life to our world to benefit beings. Even till today, teachings and dohas (or Songs of Enlightenment) of many of these celebrated yogis are being quoted in the oral and written teachings of the masters of different lineages within Tibetan Buddhism.
